Navigating the Criminal Justice System — You Don't Have to Do It Alone
No matter where you are in your healing journey — whether you choose to report or not — the Sendero Centre Police and Court Support Program is here to assist you in navigating the criminal justice system.
The Sendero Centre Police and Court Support Program is your brave space. We are dedicated to being that place where you work through your options, navigate the criminal justice system, and are emotionally supported through each step. Our support worker is here to listen and assist you while you are considering or navigating the system. We are advocates and sources of information for you — a guiding presence throughout the process.
Your Choice
You Are in Control
As each individual’s healing journey is unique — how they respond to and heal from trauma — the Sendero Centre is here to empower you to make your own choices and define your own experience, no matter how it is framed in a criminal justice response.
Brave Space is an environment that acknowledges the challenges that one has when attempting to have a discussion around difficult and/or sensitive topics. Person-centred — meeting where the person is on their journey by the sense of connectedness, predictability, flexibility and empowerment.
You are not alone. We are here to support you through this process.

Red Deer RCMP Partnership
Supportive Reporting Program
Providing you with options on reporting in a supportive and comfortable atmosphere, it aims to meet survivors of unreported sexual violence at a place and time where they feel most comfortable to report what happened to them.
This collaborative program between the Red Deer RCMP and Sendero Centre takes a person-centred approach to reporting sexual offences. The reporting session can take place at a time of your choosing and can be hosted at Sendero Centre’s Supportive Reporting Room.
Before a statement is collected, you are given the opportunity to speak to the officer about how the criminal justice process works, ask about the court process and any other questions you may have. If you decide not to provide a statement at that time, those wishes are respected.
You Do Not Have to Face This Alone
Our Police & Court Support team is available to anyone impacted by sexual violence. Free and no referral required.
